For 2017, the Chevrolet Impala returns unchanged over the model it is replacing except for the minor revisions to the naming and trim level’s availability. While we definitely not harbor any criticism for lack of any substantial changes, the large sedan segment is fast evolving into a futuristic outfit courtesy of the stiff competition that exist. This shouldn’t however be misconstrued to mean that the Chevrolet Impala 2017 isn’t a competitive model. Chevy should have nonetheless taken this opportunity to offer slight improvements on the material quality and technologies.
Well, even with its success in this class, the Impala, just like other long-running American automotive nameplates, has seen its fair share of ups and downs. But what seemed to matter for the Impala nameplate is the courage to go on. And indeed, the courage is paying off. Top on the 2017 model’s portfolio is the spacious cabin that is manifested by the roomy leg- and headroom regardless of whether one is seated at the front or at the backseat.
Additionally, further back, it offers 18.8 cu. ft. of trunk volume – enough to offer space even for the bulkiest of stuff. Add the serene and smooth ride quality, and you’ll definitely find the Impala an irresistible option. While one may be too quick to brush off these qualities as big-car basics, the Impala also bundles some of the best bells and whistles you can find in its class.
Some of the convenience, entertainment, and safety features available include eight-inch MyLink touchscreen display that comes with smartphone app integration features such as Android Auto and CarPlay systems. Safety technologies include an automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, a blind-spot monitor, and lane-departure warning. With such list of safety features available, there’s no doubt that the Impala will score high marks for its crash impact safety tests.
See, the Chevy Impala isn’t the only vehicle in its class that offers upscale technologies. In fact, we’d be swift to recommend the 2016 Toyota Avalon first due to its versatility, efficiency, superior cargo volume, and its selection of decent engines. Others that would comprise this list include the upscale Buick LaCrosse, stylish and powerful Chrysler 300, and the well-equipped Kia Cadenza.
