2017 Chevrolet Malibu – With features such as a strong turbocharged engine, a spacious interior laden with upscale technologies and premium materials, responsive and crisp infotainment screen, and a refined ride quality, the redesigned 2017 Chevrolet Malibu is now a fully competitive midsize sedan that promises to offer its traditional rivals a run for their money. The Malibu release date should be expected in the first quarter of 2017, at least according to online sources.
While we didn’t offer the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu a mediocre review, we weren’t particularly fascinated with it, either. Relative to some of its competitors and recently refreshed models, the 2016 model offered a stout engine performance, comfortable and memorable ride quality, but what appeared odd was its rental-fleet styling and cramped limited second-row seat.
The 2017 model, on the other hand, is thoroughly refreshed and lacks the same foibles the previous model came with. One notable aspect that stands out in its cabin is the striking interior design. The seats are comfortable and supportive, the interior ambience is premium, and the touchscreen interface is worth giving the downer some bragging rights.
In fact, its interior evokes the Audi A7 styling with its sleek faux-hatchback highlight. In all objectiveness, the Malibu is one car that anyone with a liking for sleekness, modern styling flourishes, and laudable performance will particularly find appealing. Indeed, it may be the first Malibu model that won’t look out of place in the tony California seaside town where it derives its name since the early ‘70s. Opting for the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu Limited takes things a notch higher with its level of refinement and performance.
Things are tinkered under the hood, as well. The base offers a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that offers better fuel economy and suitable low-rpm oomph in comparison to the outgoing model that has a naturally aspirated 2.5L base engine. The ride quality is smooth and more vigor can be offered by the optional turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission system.
The 2017 model comes replete with upscale features and technologies, but not that the outgoing model wasn’t. It simply adds latest technologies and premium features that the latter lacked such as a blind-spot monitor with rear-cross traffic alerts, a multi-view camera, lane-departure warning and mitigation, wood and metal accents, and an upgraded touchscreen interface.
Interior materials are premium and offer plenty of adjustability. The cramped backseat has been corrected and now offers ample leg- and headroom thanks to the improved dimensions. So yes. The 2017 Chevrolet Malibu is awesome.
But so are some of its primary rivals. They include the 2017 Honda Accord, and the Mazda 6 for 2017.
2017 Chevrolet Malibu – Trim Options
Four main trims are offered: LT, L, LS, and the Premier. The 2017 Chevrolet Malibu SS review is covered separately, as is the Hybrid model.

Some of the exterior 2017 Chevrolet Malibu colors include Blue Velvet Metallic, Champagne Silver Metallic, Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, Autumn Bronze Metallic, Crystal Red Tintcoat, Nightfall Gray Metallic, Butte Red Metallic, Mosaic Black Metallic, Silver Ice Metallic, and Summit White. Slight changes should however be expected on its release date.

2017 Chevrolet Malibu Engine Specs & Fuel Economy
Under the hood of the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu, motivation is offered by a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine good for 160 horsepower and 184 lbs. ft. of torque. All models are offered with a rear wheel drive, and a six-speed automatic transmission for the L, LS, and 1LT trim models.
Offered with the Malibu Premier and 2LT trim models is turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0L engine good for 250 horsepower and 260 pounds-ft. of torque. An eight-speed auto is offered as the standard transmission system.
When we come to the fuel economy, we should expect the 2.0L mill to return 22/33/26 mpg in the city/highway/combined, and 27/37/31 mpg with the 1.5L engine.
2017 Chevrolet Malibu Release Date & Price
