2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class – Despite its questionable practicality and thirsty turbocharged engines, the new 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class, notwithstanding its antiquated platform, remains an attractive choice for shoppers looking for a luxury SUV. This review will bring you up to speed with the latest news, exterior and interior designs, release date, engine specs, and G-Class’ MSRP window sticker, among other updates.
With its go-anywhere capability, strong turbocharged engines, luxurious and hush cabin, and an unmatched presence, the redesigned GL-Class is undoubtedly the only vehicle sold today that successfully spans the cultural chasm between Sunset Strip and Beirut.
G-Wagen – as it is popularly referred to by folks at Mercedes, is an icon of prosperity and has been used in six continents on a military deployment. It also boasts of several medals won from its participation in Dakar Rallies. Folks! This is a car that is uniquely resistant to rational analysis, and to say its versatile would be the wildest understatement.
Its antiquated underpinnings mean the G-Class is able to maneuver some of the most mundane conditions. These, combined with incongruously modern engineering and a bespoke cabin, result in a super-SUV that very few vehicles would dare pose a formidable competition. Not because they couldn’t but because they’d be making fools of themselves even to be referred as rivals to the G-Class.
And despite its decades-old architecture, many people still long for its release. It offers plenty of comfortable and upscale amenities that make driving it a memorable experience regardless of the distance traveled. However, you’d want to ask yourself very important questions before finally adopting one of your own GL-Class. These questions might be based on your priorities as a buyer or whether you could manage to live with its downsides such as abysmal fuel economy, unwieldy handling, ineffective cupholders and interior storage, and cramped front leg-room.
Whichever your decision is, the bottom line remains – the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is the best vehicle you can have if you want to make a statement or if you have a strong hankering for it. Otherwise, the closest alternative that exists is the 2017 Land Rover Range Rover Sport but not far behind it are the Lexus LX 570 and the 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser.
