2017 Toyota C-HR


After a series of leaked images a few weeks ago, Toyota wasted no time in unveiling the all-new 2017 Toyota C-HR during this year’s Geneva Motor Show. Toyota says it has designed the all-new model to stand out both in its lineup and its segment, and according to the excitement it has elicited in the market it seems it’s headed just where it was intended. Its release date has been set for early 2017.

It comes with an enhanced driving pleasure ad eye-catching designs that promote engineering creativity and greater stylistic freedom. These designs attracted much attention especially during the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show and the 2014 Paris Auto Show. It is remarkably distinct even in Toyota’s own lineup thanks to the coupe-like lines and front and rear fascia features.


It targets a singular and clear customer profile, especially for customers who fancy individuality and emotions. Quality ad style should be some of the top considerations that buyers looking to get the Toyota CH-R 2017 want. There’s no doubt that the new model will cause a commotion in the midsize crossover segment.

For starters, the new model uses the Toyota New Global Architecture, which is responsible for giving the CH-R a unique character that demonstrates flexibility. The platform also helps the new model deliver in terms of dynamics, powertrain, and design. Some of the rivals in terms of pricing structure alone include Toyota’s own Auris TS, and the RAV4.

Its release date as already mentioned should be expected sometime in early 2017. Orders are welcome throughout this year. When it comes to price, the new model will probably cost an MSRP starting from around $25,000.

2017 Toyota C-HR Exterior

The exterior is perhaps an evolutionary and revolutionary one. It is different from anything else on the market and there’s no doubt Toyota engineers outdid themselves on this one. It somehow comes close to the Hyundai Veloster in terms of exterior styling. The hybrid is aggressive and sporty. The headlights look similar to those of the RAV4 while the front bumper features an unconventional design.


The funkiness continues around back. The LED taillights feature a boomerang shape while the rear bumper sports faux vents just behind the rear tires. These features and many offer result in a fun driving experience thanks to the youthful and futuristic design. in terms of the dimensions of the vehicle, Toyota says we should expect the CH-R to measure 1795 mm wide, 4360 mm long, and 1555 mm high.

In overall, the exterior – regardless of the angle it is viewed from – perfectly balances elegantly integrated detailing and facetted gemstone-like shapes with fluid surfaces to offer an intricate combination of sensuality and precision.

The same design language continues around back courtesy of ‘Innovative Details and ‘Emotional Surfaces’ – key features that gives a fresh perspective to the way we approach designs. The interior design is also driver centric thanks to the expansive, well-laid, and responsive control buttons. A stylish ornamentation and piano black panel was created by the seamless layered architecture of the instrument panel.

You get a choice of three color schemes for your bespoke interior ambience. Some of the features available include dual-zone automatic climate control, adaptive cruise control, upgraded cloth upholstery, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, heated seats, a privacy glass, a smart entry system, and bi-tone metallic paintwork for the top-of-the-line models.

Available Trims

Toyota is yet to name the available trim levels. More details concerning this will be available on its release date.

Engine Specs

While the features aforementioned above might give an impression of a sporty and powerful vehicle, the new 2017 Toyota C-HR will just perform just like a typical Toyota. The base model will come with a 113-horsepower – generating 1.2L turbocharged four-cylinder engine – the same powertrain that powers both the Toyota Corolla and the Auris. Mark you, this engine is non-hybrid!

The Hybrid system, on the other hand, will be composed of a 1.8L four-cylinder engine and electric motors. Power generation is placed at 120 horsepower for this powertrain. Finally, there’s the optional four-cylinder 2.0L engine that pairs to a Continuously Variable Transmission systems able to produce around 150 hp.



When it comes to the safety of the new model, news has it that it will come equipped with some of the latest technologies. Such features include automatic high-beam ad road sign assist, lane departure alert with steering control, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision system, and blind-spot monitoring with rear-cross traffic alert system. Government crash testing report is yet to be announced.
