The fresh Bentley Bentayga for 2018 undoubtedly marks a new direction for the British brand, and despite this, the vehicle still looks and feels like a Bentley. The diamond grille, and the strong rear haunch on the nose are conspicuously recognizable. Its release date, according to Bentley, should be expected in February this year.
Like the Continental and the Flying Spur before it, the vehicle manages to take advantage of the Volkswagen ownership of Bentley. The Bentayga still makes use of the same architecture underpinning as the well-appointed, stylish and Audi’s flagship Q7 model. At 5.14 meters long, the Q7 is undeniably a large SUV, but that didn’t stop the Bentayga from being even longer.
But unlike the Q7, the new 2018 Bentley Bentayga won’t offer a seven-passenger seating capacity, although Bentley says that it will do so later. So will the hybrid and diesel engines. As a start, Bentley is offering a mind-boggling 6.0L W12 engine juggernaut.
See, the vehicle weighs 2.5 tonnes and for a car this size to saunter to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 187 mph, you’ll definitely need a powerful engine. As a start, getting two turbochargers, and an engine displacement of 6.0L and 12 cylinders should do the trick.
Offered as a standard is a 30kg cylinder deactivation system that promises 21.6 mpg and emits 297g/km of carbon dioxide gas. But you’ll need all the best in the world for you to get anywhere those fuel consumption figures in real-life driving.
The upgraded suspension tuning offers up to four driving modes and four off-road ones for its four-wheel-drive powertrain and its air suspension system. As you’d expect from a Bentley, the ride is smooth and serene and it isn’t pegged on whether you are in Sport or Comfort mode, because with a Bentley, things can never be overly firm.
The W12 engine offers a smooth ride particularly at low revs, however, working it harder makes the ride “roar” like a true Bentley which really makes the driving experience worthwhile and special. Again at low speeds, you might encounter an occasionally snatch from the automatic gearbox.
In overall, though, the vehicle is very comfortable and quiet. Well, you don’t expect such a massive vehicle to be as agile as sporty sedans. The well-weighted steering offers a smooth and swift acceleration in a straight line.
Considering to buy one? Wait! True, Bentley has established itself a reputation for being a car that provides a generous level of luxury and British appeal. Very few cars can ably afford to offer the thick end of 200 mph while still offering unrivaled comfort and appeal. So yes. Get yourself one 2018 Bentayga if you are not tight on budget.

Interior wise, the vehicle comes equipped with soft-touch materials, and upscale technologies. In a nutshell, buyers should expect the fresh 2018 Bentley Bentayga to stay true to the Bentley tradition. Some of the features available on the vehicle include a new electronic controller, steering wheel paddles, additional switches, part-dial-controlled infotainment system, leather and veneer upholstery, side bolsters, chrome bezels, cocoon-like front cabin, armchair like seats, and automatic climate control.
Engine Specs – 2018 Bentley Bentayga
Under the hood of the new 2018 Bentley Bentayga is a variety of engines for buyers to choose. This, according to Bentley, is because they want to sell the vehicle on the global market. Also, for 2018, a diesel engine will be provided – a first for the British manufacturer.
As of writing this, there is a confirmed W-12 engine for the top-of-the-line engine and is the most technically advanced. The output stands at an impressive 600 horsepower and 664 pounds of torque. This unit makes use of a new fuel injection technology, cylinder deactivation system, and friction reduction. Its emissions are expected to be below 250g/km.
Sending power to all the four wheels is an eight-speed automatic transmission system. Things get even more interesting with its 4.0 seconds acceleration to 60 mph, as this makes the vehicle the quickest SUV in the whole world. Additionally, with a top speed rated at 187 mph, the Bentayga undoubtedly holds the title for being the fastest SUV.
Next up is a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 engine rated at 450 hp. at this point, that is the only detail known, but we are burning the midnight oil in trying to mystify the rest of the information.
Finally, although we could see more engines being offered, is a 4.1L twin-turbocharged V8 diesel engine. Also on the table is a higher performance Speed version and a hybrid variant which are expected to be unveiled later this year.
