2019 Chevrolet Silverado

2019 Chevrolet Silverado review

Ok, the news is that Chevrolet is finally bringing the testing phase of the all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 to an end. However, we don’t think that there are going to be some surprises since this camouflage test mule looks more like an extensive update than a redesign. We all know that Chevrolet introduced the current Silverado in 2014 and that was General Motor’s first K2xx body-on-frame for their full-size pickups and SUVs.

The General Motors was not pleased with the Silverado’s sales and they even dropped further during 2016. That means that Silverado failed in its mission and Chevrolet needs to offer something else – something better.

That is why 2019 Chevrolet Silverado is going to go on sale in 2018 with the enhanced technology and lighter body. The rumor has it that Chevy is going to introduce some carbon fiber to their 2019 Chevrolet Silverado.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado Release Date

Although we don’t really know the exact date we are expecting the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado release date to be unveiled next month on a 2018 Detroit Auto Show. That is a quite obvious judging by the lack of camouflage on the newest spy photos and the frequent sightings of this model.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado Price

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado price range should not exceed the current model’s price where sticker stays at $28,000. However, there is that possibility that the prices are going to skyrocket for the top of the line models. The main reason for that is General Motors’s intention to boost up the fuel consumption. That means that they are going to work on some weight reduction which again opens some possibilities for the use of aluminum and carbon fiber. Of course, carbon fiber will be used in some top of the line models like High Country.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado Exterior

General Motors is trying to keep the original look of their previous model and add some minor updates for the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado exterior. The first thing we noticed was the round wheel wells. Looks like General Motors finally realized that wheels are round and that they need the same from their wells. The second thing is, of course, the bulkiness the previous model had. This one doesn’t seem like it is too bulky, and that is going to reflect on its interior’s size. These models are made for the big folks who like to wear hats, and it doesn’t seem that cab is large enough. That is why we are concerned about the headroom.

And when we look at the front fascia, there is something strange about the headlights. At first, they look the same like the ones on the current model, however, if you look at it from a different angle, you can see the LED line going from top to bottom without any interruption, like the upper and the lower headlight are now one. And it looks like that LED line perfectly goes with the new grille divider which is now broken into two parts with the Chevy logo in the middle of it. We couldn’t get the nice detailed view of the taillights but we don’t think that there are going to be some huge changes at the rear, except the carbon-fiber beds. However super-light materials are yet to be confirmed.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado Interior Spy Photos

Last month we got the new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado interior spy photos and it doesn’t seem like anything new.

When we compare it to the current model, the center part of a dashboard looks just like the one on the current model. That plastic trim around the steering wheel is also something they had to change but obviously left it for some future model (or they didn’t want to change lots of things for the testing mule). The thing that is changed is the central gauge screen which looks a lot bigger than on the current Silverado.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado Engine Expectations

Although we do have some new spy photos, there isn’t some ground-solid information about the actual performance numbers for the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado engine but we do have some expectations. We expect the 10-speed automatic transmission to go across the range and the 8-speed transmission for the lower trim models. Also, we expect that General Motors is going to keep the current 4.3 liter V6, small block V8 for the 2019 model, and the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Diesel as a possibility. And we are hoping to see the performance model based on the “Silverado Concept” which was unveiled at the 2017 SEMA show.
