Ford has started testing almost all of the models that are going to be released under the 2019 Ford Ranger badge. We have seen the FX4 testing last week, and spy photographers have finally managed to catch the 2019 Ford Ranger XLT trim plowing through the snow. Apart from that, we have also got the 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor’s release date.
2019 Ford Ranger Release Date
We expect the 2019 Ford Ranger to make a big debut at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, next month. The new Ford Ranger release date has not been officially determined, but we can speculate that it will be released in summer 2018. However, that is not the end. There have been some rumors about the ultimate performance off-road truck that will carry the badge of the new Ford Ranger but no one knew that this one is going to be “Raptor”.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor will take on the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 and Holden Colorado SportsCat. And it will make its big debut at the Bangkok Motor Show in March 2018. And prior to that “live” reveal, the 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor will be officially presented online on February 7, 2018.
The 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor will be a desert bomber, just like the F-150 Raptor!
The first video of the 2019 Raptor was released in September 2017.
2019 Ford Ranger Price
The 2019 Ford Ranger price has not been officially revealed, however judging by the price range of the older models we can assume that prices are not going to be that different. You can expect its price to go from $25,000 to $35,000.
2019 Ford Ranger Design
The new 2019 Ford Ranger will be built completely in Michigan. However, the design and the most of its parts are going to be the same as on the international model. That is the case because of the One Ford ethos, which means that it has the same design for all the markets.
Judging by the newest photos taken a couple of days ago, the Ford Ranger 2019 design is going to be a bit sharper. And in spite of the camouflage and a total cover over the headlights and taillights, there is a small exposed portion of it, enough for us to speculate.
Well, there were two set of photos for two different trim levels. The first set of photos it has been taken on December 10, 2017 and that was the 2019 Ford Ranger FX4. The second set of spy shots were of the 2019 Ford Ranger XLT trim level, and they were taken only a couple of days ago.
Those two sets of photos have revealed that new sharper design and confirmed that the new Ford Ranger XLT will get its own unique “Explorer-like” grille.
Again, everything else has been covered up by the camouflage but the overall look seems to be more aggressive with a front skid plate and tow hooks mounted on the front bumper. That was the first sign of the possible 2019 Ford Ranger FX4 off-road trim package.
2019 Ford Ranger Trim Levels
Ford’s list of trims has been pretty consistent over the past years. That is why we expect to see the 2019 Ford Ranger XL, XLT, and Lariat trims. Higher in the line-up, in 2019 we expect the Ford Ranger King Ranch, Ford Ranger Limited, and Ford Ranger Platinum. Of course, you will have the option to choose the Ford Ranger FX4 which is for those who expect a bit more extreme capabilities than just the standard four-wheel drive system. The FX4 will have underbody skid plates, better shock absorbers, and an electronically locking rear differential.
The most anticipated trim level will be the 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor. It will have the long-travel suspension with Fox Racing Shocks, thick skid plates, a locking rear differential and a Torsen limited-slip front differential.
2019 Ford Ranger Interior
During the last few months, our spies managed to take some interesting photos of the new 2019 Ford Ranger interior. Even though these spy photos of the camouflaged model didn’t show much, we managed to catch the small infotainment screen which is flagged by the series of buttons.
The 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor photos also revealed small changes with the steering wheel. To be more precise, there are now two gear-shift paddles that are mounted on the steering wheel and not the steering column.
That is the same design that has been used on Ranger models sold in Australia and other international markets. Of course, Ford is going to offer more elegant models with complete touchscreen controls, which will depend on the trim level you choose.
You have to know that those photos were of the early version. It is not clear how many details will go to the production model.
2019 Ford Ranger Performance
Internationally, the 2019 Ford Ranger performance is mostly going to stay the same. However, it will come in different options depending on the trim level.
The standard engine will most likely be a four-cylinder Eco-Boost mated to a six-speed manual transmission and there will be several engine and transmission choices to choose from.
Those people that crave for more power can opt for a V-6 which is likely to be the same 2.7 liter EcoBoost V6 which is available in the F-150 with 325 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque. That will be the strongest engine in the line-up. However, they could also include the F-150’s 3.3 liter V6 that makes 290 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque.
The 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor will, according to the “Motoring”, use a detuned version of the F-150 Raptor’s 3.5 liters EcoBoost V6. However, that info could be a false one because of the size of the engine bay. There is no way that engineers could fit the 3.5 liters into the 2019 Ford Ranger engine bay. It has been, up to this point, only used for engines as large as the 3.2 liters inline-five Duratorq TDCi turbo diesel.
That is why we are assuming that Ford is more likely going to choose the 2.7 liters EcoBoost V6. It will have a total of 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. Apart from that, the 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor’s engine is almost certainly going to be mated with the 10-speed automatic transmission that has been co-developed with the GM.
The 2019 Ford Ranger is coming at full speed and it will be officially presented on the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, next month. It will come in a number of trim levels and the biggest surprise is the new Ford Ranger Raptor which is most likely going to be the strongest version of this model. The official debut of the “Raptor” is scheduled for February 7, 2018, in Bangkok, Thailand.
