With the just recently released RAV4 Adventure model, buyers and enthusiasts alike should also be in the watch out for the all-new 2019 Toyota RAV4. Rumors have been flooding the internet over the past couple of weeks on what the brand new 2019 RAV4 will be offered with. But even before we delve into what the now model might offer, lets first take a quick look on how previous models have fared thus far.
Starting from the 2016 model, Toyota offered the succeeding model very subtle changes that ranged from a redesigned cabin to an updated exterior but the core still remained fundamentally unchanged especially when performance came into play. See, the RAV4 model was introduced back in 2013 and since then the small crossover SUV segment has had quite a remarkable growth particularly in terms of the models offered going for sale as well as the feature set now available all thanks to the competition.
The Rav4 is a well-manned crossover SUV that takes pride in offering its buyers a smooth ride quality, high tech safety features, and plenty of utility evidenced by its more-than-average cargo space and passenger volumes. Furthermore, the Toyota Rav4 model range also offers a fuel-efficient hybrid variant that promises lots of savings at the pump.
The RAV4 has also had its own fare of criticism thanks to its choppy ride quality especially for users of the SE trim model; the interior fit and finish doesn’t exactly fit the bill; the steering and handling are somehow sloppy relative to what is available from its rivals.
For 2019 however, we expect that Toyota is working hard to make that model more appealing to its swathes of loyal customers who throng dealerships across the country every time it’s released.
2019 Toyota RAV4 Price and Release Date Rumors
The new model should get a slight price increment of around a few hundred dollars over the current model which goes for sale for $24,500 for the base model. And as for the 2019 Toyota RAV4 release date, it is still quite early to know when it’ll be released but we’re hopeful Toyota might release it sometime in August 2018.
Toyota RAV4 Adventure
Just recently released is the 2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure. The model is a new addition to the existing model range that comprises of trim models such as XLE, LE, SE, and the Platinum model – given they still make it to the 2019 list. Toyota is yet to release any news on whether or not the lineup has changed but what is apparent now is the fact that the Adventure model is now among the list.
Still on the RAV Adventure, the model will be available in front wheel drive with Dynamic Torque Control all-wheel drive and an Automatic Limited-Slip Differential. Regardless of the one you choose, both versions come the Tow Prep package as standard. The Tow package includes transmission fluid coolers, supplemental engine oil, and an upgraded radiator. Also, the suspension system has been improved for better off-roading.
And just like the rest of Rav4 models out there, the Adventure grade will also be available with features such as TSS-P, Hill Start Assist, and Trailer Sway Control. Exterior features that will help buyers differentiate the regular model from the Adventure model include 18-inch five-spoke black alloy wheels, large overfender flares, black headlight bezels, lower body guards, and Adventure badging, roof racks, and black fog lamp surround.
Five exterior colors are available for the 2019 Toyota RAV4 Adventure: Silver Sky Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Ruby Flare Pearl, Super White, and Black. These are further mated to interior features that include a leather-wrapped shift knob, unique interior trim panels, all-weather mats floor and cargo mats, adventure door sill protectors, and 120V/100W power outlet in the cargo area.
2019 Toyota RAV4 Engine Specs
Back to the 2019 RAV4, we should expect mild changes to the performance specs such as better power and torque. Currently on offer is the 176 horsepower base 2.5 four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission system. For 2019, we’d expect Toyota to make the base model slightly exciting by increasing the power output to, say 185 horsepower, which should also slightly reduce the 0-60 mph run time by half a second or so bringing it to 8.5 seconds.
The 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid should also get additional power just like its counterpart. The existing model’s peak power seats at 194 horsepower – this power should increase to around 200 hp. Other than that, we are hopeful that Toyota will try to make the RAV4 as sporty as can be to match the likes of Subaru Forester XT, Mazda CX-5 or the Ford Escape. And yet, the current RAV4 is still a popular option mainly due to how well it manages to balance its feature set in other areas.
Interior & Exterior Of The New 2019 Toyota RAV4
As anyone can tell now, matters regarding how the interior and exterior of the 2019 is still miles away and is anyone’s guess. What however we can totally agree on is that Toyota will offer the new model a barrage of new changes. Updates on the post will follow once the details are confirmed.
When it comes to competition, two models pose the greatest threat to the 2019 Toyota RAV4: the Nissan Rogue and the Kia Niro. The Nissan Rogue is quite an impressive choice in this segment of SUVs but lacks the high marks when it comes to cargo capacity and seat comfort that are crucial decision factors for buyers when they come shopping. Additionally, its poor visibility and lethargic acceleration make it an even worse alternative to other options.
The Kia Niro, on the other hand, functions as a hatchback but is classified under the compact hybrid crossover SUV class. Being a hybrid obviously means the Niro has impressive fuel economy which sales men use to boast about it very much during price negotiations. Other cool features about the Niro include its fair price and impressive utility.
