Say hello to the 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport car which is the new member of the Land Rover roster. This is stated as being finally official as we have experienced month on end of rumors, spy photos and various assumptions. The vehicle is going to be released for sale at the end of this year and is labeled as a 2017 model.
The new Sport version will have similar characteristics as its Range Rover Sport brand as they are both smaller and faster versions compared to their base brands as it features a completely new design for the upcoming model year. This new design is going to be based on the Discovery Vision Concept that was already showcased earlier this year. The model is going to show no lack of contemporary technology as it is also being loaded with the nicest looking design touches that a Discovery car has ever had.
It is going to borrow the engine and modern nine-speed ZF automatic transmission as well as the stylistically looking shell that we have seen on the Evoque vehicle and will add AWD system which creates a dynamic offer with more capabilities and options for this brand. Also the model is going to compete against some pretty staggering competition, the likes of 2017 BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC Class are among the top ones in the segment, but Audi Q5 and Lexus RX also come into the mix as well. 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport exterior
The 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport exterior style is going to be based mostly on the already previewed Discovery Vision Concept. This is already an impressive looking and handsome design so they are incorporating it here and using its popularity to bolster the new Disco Sport car. The size is completely compact and is much more fitting than the standard Discovery and it actually looks more like the Evoque car than its base form. Land Rover has managed to produce one of the best looking vehicles from their production line so the combination of that sort of a design with the already mentioned concept can only be a good way to go design wise for the Disco vehicle.
The front end of the car has been changed to feature some softer cues. It is by no means a traditional looking design as it adopts many modern design parts. It is more rounded and thus much softer than we are used to, and the added mesh grille with HID headlamps and LED running lamps set in a circle is a very luxury way of designing it. The circle in which the LEDs are positioned is meant to present four cardinal directions. The rear lights have similar slim, wraparound design which fits into the overall new look of the vehicle. The new shape also adds some aerodynamic characteristics which enhances the performance as well. This year there is a total of nine exterior colors available, with the Yulong White being a limited edition color choice, and five different alloy wheel design options.
The best part of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport is actually on the insides. Although the exterior features a spectacular compact haul, it is the goodies on the inside that make the most difference here. First of all, the compact exterior actually hides the roomy interior. You would think that the car does not have much to offer on the inside and that you will have to get into a tight squeeze but the truth is actually far beyond than you would think. The spacing on the inside allows for a split of 5+2, with an extra third row added behind. The vehicle is good enough to fit in five people without any problems but the ones sitting in the third row will have to squeeze up a bit but they can mainly be used by children in fact.
The cabin is luxurious as in any Land Rover vehicle that you have come by so far. Twin-needle-stitched leather, configurable mood lighting and multi-zone climate control, a genuine metal interior trim, all of it is a part of a standard surrounding inside a Land Rover car and the Discovery Sport versions wears them with pride. The second row of seats can also be additionally adjusted and reclined for more spacing. There are various cup holders and storage spaces offered at every seating position allowing you extra comfort and the air vents have been re-positioned for extra efficiency this time.

The powertrain of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport is going to be the same one seen inside the Evoque car. A 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that makes 240 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque and combined with a ZF nine-speed automatic transmission is what completes the powertrain setup. But bolstering the performance of this vehicle is the Haldex All-Wheel-Drive system which points the car into the right direction and leaves you open to more paths and options to travel upon.
