The new Tesla Model X for 2017 is a midsize crossover that makes extensive use of the same mechanical components as its successful Model S sedan. Some of its strengths include ability for daily use, unique rear door that makes for easy ingress and egress, an impressive towing capacity of 5,000 pounds, a six-and seven passenger configurations, and top safety scores. Its release date should be expected in early 2017.
For quite some time, the Model X crossover has been lost among the excellent commentaries jostled over the nicely-crafted, well-appointed and performance-themed Tesla Model S sedan, while in actual sense, it is nicely-built and very fast. With luxury, sleek and seductive cabin, affordable price, and top-notch performance, the Model X is not just any other electric vehicle on sale today.
With its endless feature and tech list, Tesla hopes to reignite the market once again with the crossover-styled Model X – a crossover version of the Model S sedan. For buyers who have found the sedan uninspiring, the Model X will certainly be the vehicle to look for. It offers a choice of either six-or seven passenger configurations on three rows of seating arrangement.
According to Tesla, the “falcon wings” rear doors will help reduce opening and closing arcs in very tight spaces thereby allowing easier access to the aft seats. Additionally, the gullwing-style rear doors can open with just a foot of side clearance.
Although taller, and slightly longer than the Model S, Tesla says the improved versatility hasn’t evolved to mean excessive growth. The same platform underpinnings used in the sedan will be used for the construction of the crossover.
