2019 Cadillac XTS: What We Can Expect

2019 Cadillac XTS might likely receive a few updates and changes, which will should closely follow those it already received for the 2018 model year. Some of the expectations that we expect should include potential powertrain updates and subtle changes to the exterior color options. The powertrain options in particular should be a replacement to the last-gen LFX for the new base V-6 engine. The six-speed transmission system should also replace the 9-speed transmission.

Other than the aforementioned, we largely expect the 2019 Cadillac XTS to return the same as the existing model – 2018 XTS. Initially, the Cadillac XTS was to be discontinued but Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen later made it clear that the XTS would still continue beyond the date.

There’re are a myriad of reasons why people love the Cadillac XTS, and not just because it is large sedan in the brand’s lineup but because of impressive features that make it a solid pick for clientele not looking for a sport sedan. Some of the reasons that have contributed to the success of the XTS include spacious interior boasting of high-quality materials, available all-wheel drive system for harsh climes, and an impressive high-tech feature set.

Additionally, the Cadillac XTS is a comfortable and spacious sedan that comes with a confident performance and handling. And just to heighten the appeal of the elegant vehicle, Cadillac gave the 2018 model a boost in terms of appearance, chassis and technical changes.

The 2019 Cadillac XTS is also expected to continue making use of the next generation Cadillac user experience that allows for adjustment from time to time depending on the existing needs of customers. The dynamic platform allows for changes to customer’s evolving connectivity needs by leveraging on the cloud to enable personalization by allowing users to get access to applications on the Collection app store as well as accessing an easy to use navigation system.

We don’t expect the chassis to undergo any further developments for the new model as the 2018 changes already took care of that. What we would however expect to get with the new model is a quieter ride quality through extensive use of sound deafening materials. For comfort, the foam geometry already enables for a more comfortable seating especially for the driver but Cadillac would do more by slightly redesigning the head pad design as well as the frame structure for even more comfort.

As already told, the 2019 Cadillac XTS shouldn’t feature much changes. The exterior should return almost unchanged save for the tiny bits that returning buyers would appreciate such as additional color options and changes to the headlights and taillights designs. Other than those we think the new model should do just fine by retiring the current model’s specifications for dimensions and design in general. But we shouldn’t be surprised if GM decided to do some minor ramp up of their large sedan though.

The exiting model brought in a number of freshened exterior styling features that refreshed the designed pattern of the XTS. Some of these features included refreshed front and rear fascias. New grille, LED headlights and taillights, new fenders, and new alloy wheel options were part of the new additions that made it to the list of new options for the 2018 Cadillac XTS. Dimension wise, the model however shrank a bit over the previous iteration therefore dethroning the model as the biggest sedan for the marque.

2019 Cadillac XTS Date Of Release & Price

It is very early to make conclusions about these details now, but rumor mills have been at work of late and the most vocal of these says we should expect the new model towards the fall of 2018. As for the price, we should expect the new model to go for sale for around the same price as the current model that goes for sale for around $45K.

2019 Cadillac XTS Interior Changes

The XTS is nod to yesteryear’s band of customers who pretty much appreciated a large, comfortable and older-styled cruisers. But the XTS isn’t just about size, it’s a modern vehicle packed by latest gadgetry. The proportions, even in spite of the slight reduction, are purposeful and meant to appeal to customers who value a spacious cabin and comfort.

Riding on the same next-generation Cadillac user platform, the 2019 Cadillac XTS should continue offering its passengers impressive connectivity functions that make daily driving fun. The infotainment system is intuitive and includes a Summary view in which all key applications – audio, climate, navigation, and phone – are displayed on one screen.

The cabin features an artistic integration of technology and authentic cut-and-sewn materials. There’re acres of high quality materials on the console, steering wheel, instrument panel, center stack, and door panels. Top trim levels like the XTS Platinum should come with features such as premium wood trimmings and leather wrapped interior with micro-fiber suede headliner.

Additional interior features should include adaptive remote start, a 22-way power adjustable front seats, upgraded Bose premium eight-speaker system, heads-up display, a tri-zone automatic climate control system, illuminated entry, and a heated steering wheel.

2019 Cadillac XTS Engine Specs

The two engine options currently available on the existing model should continue motivating the 2019 XTS too. Headlining the XTS’ powertrain lineup is Cadillac’s twin-turbo 3.6L V6 engine that manages to provide 410 horsepower and 369 pounds-feet of torque. This engine is available for the top-of-the trim model – the Cadillac V-Sport. The same exact engine features on the standard model but is offered with much lesser power – 304 hp and 264 pounds-feet of torque.
