2018 Nissan Frontier

The next 2018 Nissan Frontier is set to make its debut. Unfortunately this new model continues with les changes than we would actually expect from this model. Maybe the only new changes that we are getting are the new color variants that are give now with almost nothing in between to separate the new and the old models. Also the Crew Cab SV model is getting some new features but other than that there is not much to look forward to. Except that the model is almost the same as it was the last time it received a refresh back in 2009.

But even with the addition of some new entries made in the segment now and other forms of vehicle appearing, the Nissan Frontier still makes a great case for its offer. The offer that the Frontier has is a fully boxed frame, two engine choices, the option of using two or four wheel drive, cargo management that is advanced even to the newer models and additional gadgets that still work well. Also, the manual transmission is still available for all of the trim levels of the 2018 Nissan Frontier and even for the burly PRO-4X off-road edition trim.

With the preparation of the Nissan Titan and the new Titan XD models, the attention of Nissan has for a moment been averted to this model, which does not mean that they have forgotten all about the Frontier. This only means that the Frontier is going to get some more updates in the future. As the new Colorado, Cayenne and 2018 Toyota Tacoma models are announced that they are in their final phase of being built the Frontier is going to certainly offer something new to battle this type of a competition once the time comes. Till then we have the excellent 2018 Nissan Frontier about which you can learn everything about in this review.

Even though the styling of the 2018 Nissan Frontier has not changed that much we cannot say that we do not like it. The vehicle has a very lovely look which at this point can be referred to as being classic. Just look at the small grille, the cool roof rack which is use on more than one trim, the large fender flairs and you will see what I am talking about. It is truly an awesome design.

The new Frontier is going to come in various forms, the new ones are the King Cab which is a bit more extended and the Crew Cab which is a four door variant. Unfortunately there is no regular cab this time. Depending on the trim level you can choose a 5-foot or a 6-foot bed which can be useful at times.

The updates that are given for the Nissan Frontier 2018 include the three new color choices that are given for you optionally for the exterior. You can make your pick between a Forged Copper, Gun Metallic, and Magnetic Black, but there are also the old choices still there, like the lacier White, Cayenne Red, Brilliant Silver, Lava Red, and Arctic Blue Metallic. The Crew Cab SV model has a cool new moonroof now which it did not have before.

The interior of the 2018 Nissan Frontier follows the same premise seen on the outside. The interior has been made downright classic and it does include some expected additions and gadgets. But the interior is well off dated which needs to be fixed with the expected next-gen model. The interior adds a bulky three-spoke steering wheel, a clunky shifter and a navigation screen. There is still a lot of hard plastic used on the inside which does not seem that good at all.

But, one of the advantages of the 2018 Nissan Frontiers is that the interior is highly functional. Say what you want about the looks but we cannot deny the fact that this model is pretty great when it comes to long drives. Based on the trim levels, you also have a variety of color choices offered on the inside

The King Cab does not offer a very spacious nor comfortable back seat area and should be used only in the most dire needs. The model uses old school folding seats that do not offer any support for the back in fact. But on the other had, the Crew Can seating arrangement has improved a lot compared to the King Cab. fold-up seat bottoms are used now which do provide more cargo hauling option but this is all from the car for this model.

Engine specs

The good news is still that the 2018 Nissan Frontier does have two engine options for it. The base version is the 2.5-liter four-cylinder and is only applicable for the King Cab version and manages to make 152 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. A more powerful option is the 4.0-liter V-6 engine which does manage to make 261 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque, which is the class leading number of torque available. A surprising fact is that both of these engine options are available with either a manual or automatic transmission in either cab configuration. The King Cab gets a a five-speed manual, while the Crew Cab using a V-6 engine is combined with a six-speed manual . The only automatic shifter that is available is the five-speed one. And finally, like all mid-size trucks the 2018 Nissan Frontier comes with a choice between 2WD and 4WD options.
